Gayatri Mantra: A deep Dive

Tune Humen Utpann Kiya, Palan Kar Raha Hai Tu !
Tujh Se Hi Pate Pran Hum, Dukhiyon ke Kasht Harata Tu !!
Tera Mahan Tej Hai, Chhaya Hua Sabhi Sthan !
Srishti ki Vastu-Vastu Mein , Tu Ho Raha Hai Vidyaman !!
Tera Hi Dharte Dhayn Hum , Mangate Teri Daya !
Ishwar Hamari Budhi Ko, Shreshtha  Marg Par Chala !!

This is what I hear almost daily from a temple in my neighborhood while getting up from bed in the morning.
Singing in a very melodious voice followed by lot of difficult to pronounce mantras.I try my best to keep pace with enchanting but huh ....not very god at it.Though of learning the shlokas with the motive to recite along with the singer. when I googled " Tera mahan tej hai".I was very much surprized to know that this is interpretation of Gayatri mantra. Felt like I was too ignorant all these days.At the end of this I felt enlightened. Though of sharing this with you all too.

Its meaning is that "May the Almighty God illuminate our intellect to lead us along the righteous path". The mantra is also a prayer to the "giver of light and life" - the sun (savitur).

Gayatri Mantra (the mother of the vedas), the foremost mantra in hinduism and hindu beliefs, inspires wisdom.
Gayatri, the five-faced Goddess, is said to have domain over the five senses or pranas, and protects these five life-forces of those who chant the Gayatri Mantra. In her role as the protector, Gayatri is referred to as Savitri.
Gayatri Devi is an incarnation of Saraswati Devi, consort of Lord Brahma, symbolising the "shakti" (strength) and "dev" (quality) of Knowledge, Purity and Virtue. Saraswati Devi is held to be the patronness of the Arts, being a poet and musician, as well as skillful composer. In the form of Gayatri Devi, with the blessings of Lord Brahma, she is believed to have given the four Vedas to mankind.
Gayatri is depicted seated on a lotus. She is depicted with five faces representing the pancha pranas /pancha vayus(five lives/winds): prana, apana, vyana, udana, samana, of the five principles/ elements (pancha tatwas) earth, water, air, fire, sky (prithvi, jala, vayu, teja, aakasha). She has 10 hands carrying the five ayudhas: shankha; chakra, kamala, varada, abhaya, kasha, ankusha, ujjwala utensil, rudrakshi mala.
Gayatri, Savitri and Saraswati are three goddesses representing the presiding deities of the famous Gayatri mantra chanted thrice a day.

दिखाई दिए यूं कि बेखुद किया

Movie Name: Bazaar (1982)
Singer: Lata Mangeshkar
Music Director: Khaiyam
Lyrics: Mir Taqi Mir

One of the more difficult Ghazals to exactly pin point the correct meaning because of the use of Metaphors. The words though simple convey different feelings depending on the context. That’s one of the beauties of Urdu Ghazal, it can express various thoughts subject to who is reading it. A classic by Khaiyam and Lata.

‘Mir’ is the classic Urdu Poet who before Ghalib actually developed the language

Dikha’yee di’ye yooN ke bekhud kiyaa
HameN aap se bhee judaa kar chale

Saw you in such a way that made me forget myself
You separated me from even myself

JabeeN sajda karte hee karte gayi
Haq-e-bandagee ham adaa kar chale

My head kept bowing in prayers for you
I fulfilled my duty of being truthfully devoted

Parishtish kee yaaN tak k ai but tujhe
Nazar meN sabhoN kee Khudaa kar chale

I worshiped you to the extent
I made you God in everyone’s eyes

Bahut aarzoo thee galee kee tiree
So yaaN se lahoo meN nahaa kar chale

I desired a lot for the way to your home
So I leave from here bathed in blood

Psychology In Everyday Life

What you call a person who thinks that “I am always right” (Egotist)? A person who thinks he is the best (Pompous)? Or a person Characterized by an authoritative, arrogant assertion of unproved or unprovable principles (Dogmatic)?

I came across few such people in a succession of past two three days. Thereby I have been forced to search few special words who describe them very well.

I know “Jenus” (A young enthusiastic person in his late twenties) near about two years. Initially I thought maybe he is too confident and aspire to be a good human being. I did not pay much attention to his behavior. But on repeated interactions and exposure at different occasions I started noticing a very peculiar behavior of his personality.

Excessive self-esteem, exaggerated dignity, pretentious, Full of high-sounding phrases, self-centered, are few adjectives to describe him.

Jenus thinks he is very unique, royal in his behavior, has a unique identity. He hasn’t done anything wrong till now. He always brags about himself. He has certain beliefs and hypothesis and always tries to prove his point. On contrary I have noticed immature ways at times, sometime very secretive, often lying at times.

Somehow I feel he is surrounded by some sense of insecurity or fear which is responsible for this kind of behavior (Reminding himself of his qualities).

No wonder homo-sapiens are a very complex creatures and so are their Brains. There is a full flagged science dealing with human behavior.Be it Egotist, Dogmatic, Pompous, Fundamentalist, Literalism everything is driven by human psychology. If one tries to explore it ... he has to go on a deep dive, never to come back to the surface again…!!!

Real Life Humor

This story has elements of passion determination, thrill, adventure and of course humor.

Why Passion and determination as we (me and my friends) were very much determined and enthusiastic to go to the office party in spite of so many odds and hurdles faced. We were in full zeal and enthusiasm, as if we have never attended any party or not going to attend any one in future ;-).

The very moment we got the mail about the family outing organized by our office. The gang of four beautiful, bold, dynamic and enthusiastic gals started the discussion who all will be going, what to wear and also about all fun and the frolic which will happen at the party.

This became the topic of discussion during morning coffee, afternoon walk in the company compound and of course the evening tea time.

At last three votes were up and one already backed out.

The party day
When I called Giri her voice was sounding like as if someone had pressed her Adam’s apple. Precisely she was down with severe throat infection and was still trying to be at her best vocals, though she miserably failed in doing so. I told her don’t talk, just listen about our plan of coming to her house and then going to party (all the three together). After all plan was to enter there as three musketeers and leave a big impact. But soon hopes shattered, when she disclosed that her condition was not permitting and she won’t be able to come.

Finally only two of us, me and Indu were left. We boarded the bus, and manage to get down at a point where we were sure that we had lost directions.

Enquired about the place “Royal Orcad “different people had different opinions...Several people told that there is no place with this name. Other person gave a reference of a restaurant thinking we want to have a nice breakfast/lunch there.

At last we had found a great soul who knew about the place and it seems he had frequent visits to the same place. He gave us directions and told that it's nearby and on walkable distance (not even one kms) .

Adventure1
So we decided to walk, to the Party Resort. At that time we were not aware of the thrill we would be experiencing on the way.

It was a shady area. Even after one kms walk still more miles were left. Suddenly we saw a man coming from opposite direction and making strange sounds .

He was repeatedly saying “hovu - hove” and I heard it as “aaoo - aaoo” I thought might be there would be some pigeon / birds /dog he is calling them.

On the contrary, my friend thought he is a crazy fellow and just blabbering something.

At the same time I looked at his finger, pointing to probably a meter long snake, just four inches away from me .The very look of the reptile gave me numbness of feet, Adrenaline rush rush , felt a cold shiver passing down , I went in a state of shock…!!!

In Reality, neither he was mad nor was he calling some birds as per our assumptions and intelligent quotient levels. He was just warning us by saying hovu hove (kannada it means snake).

Finally I restored my pulse and heart rate to normal, and we both started walking further down the lane.

I think we were extra lucky that day one after other god was testing our boldness. It would not be wrong if I say we both would have given “Fear Factor” contestants a tough competition. Anyway they never invited us to participate in the show J.

Adventure2
Further down the lane we found our self to be surrounded by a gang of dogs. Correction not only one gang , 3 dogs on our left, 4 on right and few were standing in front , and there was no way to run/escape from backside either …Might be they were planning for a fight and they wanted us to witness the free show. But their aggressive gestures were reminding me of Jackals. My friend got very scared by seeing them, though I was also feeling the same ...But the name is “ Gauri Pradhan” how can I accept so easily that dog are enough to scare me.

I gave all tips like one should not make an eye contact with the dogs if struck in this kind of situation .But reality was different, if I was looking at them they were shaking my confidence and reminding me of 14 injections / bite.

Also one grand tip given by one of my friend at some time “Person has to just bend down carefully and pick a stone (big /small / or maybe you can just act if you did not find anything). The dog will think you can harm him and he will run away.

Actually I got the guts to give a demo to my friend in that situation, and it worked too. Finally they ran away and cleared our path for the resort.

Adventure3
We continued walking and kept checking the landmarks given by the unknown person . Since we already had an experience of reptiles and cannianes so we did not want to take risk, still Royal Orcade was not visible; we thought of getting in to a rick … finally we saw few auto rickshaw parked at the roads dead end . On enquiring about where is RO they told it is approximately one kms away. We got in to auto ... just 10 seconds later, we saw the board of the party and the name of the destined resort . We thought might be entry is from other side. The auto fellow took us further ahead close to few kms and told us that this is "Bus Stand" and please get down. When we asked him who wanted to go to bus stand ?(Remember We always wanted to go to Royal Orcad)... he replied "we boarded the auto from royal Orcad only "(GRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrr....!!!)

Let cut the story short, dear friends let me humbly accept that we got cheated by auto rickshaw fellow :-):-)
